Crooked Island Stand Up Paddle Trip

On our spring break in Florida, Davis and I paddled to Crooked Island from Tyndall Air Force Base. The put-in is the right next to the bomb disposal range. The warning sign was comprehensive (pictured below):

Potentially Dangerous Waters. There are no lifeguards, no warning flags, no swim markers in this area. There are potential hazards: riptides, undertow, dangerous wildlife and microbiological health hazards. No rescue possible.

The water was blood red with tannic acid, and there were stingrays swimming below our boards. We explored the island while some crabs hung out around the paddleboard.
